Building casual solutions via Azure Functions and SQL Serverless database.

Azure SQL Serverless database hit general availability an only month ago, and it seems that it will be a perfect match for usage with Azure Functions. I will share my takeaways, use cases, and application usage scenarios. Finally, we'll look at a short demo that demonstrates how SQL Serverless performs under pressure. Let's close this year with the 60th edition of our user group.

Серверлесс является одной из хайповых технологий и найти информацию о её преимуществах не составляет труда. Потому я решил рассказать о подводных камнях и проблемах интеграции с legacy решениями. Поделюсь своим опытом создания приложений на базе Azure Functions с event-driven архитектурой. Также упомяну несколько полезных вариантов применения и покажу короткое демо.

Identity and security in Azure App Service.

This talk will be dedicated to Identity and Security, important components of a modern software architecture. I will get into details about Identity as a Service (IdaaS) solution provided by Microsoft and compare it with a custom one, based on Identity Server 4. Another topic will cover Managed Identity for Azure resources  and its integration with KeyVault along with the cloud security basics.

SQL Server 2017 is full of new features and improvements. The main "Killer" feature of SQL Server 2017 is SQL Server on Linux, but there are some more big and interesting features: Adaptive Query Processing, Graph Processing, Automatic Tuning and many others which you are aware of. And in this session we will not talk  about them. We will not do that just because there are a lot of cool features in SQL Server 2017, which are more hidden from our sight and have not get enough attention.
